First Friday ~ Dayton, Ohio

Birdman and I had gone to Dayton to see a couple of shows at the Neon. Afterwards we went for a walk through the Oregon District and as an added bonus it happened to be First Friday. There were several street performers and vendors out and we got to go through several art galleries.

We saw Winter’s Bone and The Kids Are All Right at the Neon. Both were great movies.

I am thinking that maybe I can start gluing wine corks over the rusted spots on my Jeep. And then it would just grow from there.

Surprise Blooms

I had never tried a water garden before.  This year we started simply with some water lettuce in a galvanized tube.  They multiplied like crazy, but then this week the most beautiful blooms appeared.

Flowers from the new cutting bed

Lyle the Buddha cat immediately jumped up to inspect the new flower arrangement.  Birdman put in a new flower bed this summer, a cutting bed of zinnias and cosmos. It also makes a nice place to get a drink of water.

It finally arrived!!

My new Liberty of London duvet cover finally arrived. Who would have ever thought it would take months to get here. I could have just driven down to Huber to the Target store and bought it a long time ago if I had known. It was still nice to get it.

Noah

Noah spent Friday night with Granny and Papaw.  On Saturday we all got up and headed over to Tipp to the Antique and Artisan Show.  Noah went along and was attentive just in case there happened to be any Monster Trucks for sale.  I didn’t think there would be any and tried to tell him, but he is such a strong believer. He didn’t go home empty handed, however.  He didn’t find any Monster Trucks, but he did get a “kitty” from Wally the Balloon Man.

I believe I may have learned how to post a picture to my blog.

Just a practice shot of the back deck. Just to see if I could figure out how to post it. I think I have done it!

The Garden is in Full Bloom

With the early onset of warm weather, the lilies are blooming at least a week to two weeks in advance. Usually it is in July before the fullness of the garden takes place, but each morning when we walk out, there are more and more beautiful flowers. The butterflies are appearing and this seems to be a spectacular season for dragonflies. I am so thankful for the summer months when I can take a break from teaching to enjoy my time in the garden. Every morning is spent with Birdman as we drink our morning cups of coffee, read the paper, and then walk through the gardens to see what new lilies have bloomed for the day.
